Madam Mayor – a real pleasure!
A big thank you to the lovely Mayor of Sutton & Cllr Louise Phelan for her visit today and generous time talking to our volunteers and engaging with our visiting public.
In our mission to gain momentum and indeed local support; it was really great for us to be able to present all of the many Yourspace working aims and give her an insight into the many projects we are working on, and indeed our community aspirations for rescuing and renovating the derelict park cottage.

Even better to realise just how receptive the Mayor was to many of our ideas and the work going especially on thee partnering up with other enterprises and organisations and our history and heritage project.
It was also great to be able to walk around Seears Park and Perretts Field and discuss how Yourspace sits within the adjoining park setting and the possible solutions we have for rescuing the decaying park asset.
Thank you to long time supporters Raywen and Cliff Ford who were so kind in championing our cause to the Mayor directly and of course to the volunteers who came out today in the rain to make the visit engaging and worth it.

It was a day where as a team we discussed so many different aspects of the Yourspace endeavour and spent longer talking about Cheam’s history and heritage than I can ever previously remember, and just as that conversation was coming to an end, we had a visit form local history aficionado and bottle collector Paul Blewitt and the day ended with so much more history being passionately talked about, almost as if it were premeditated.
It has long been apparent to me, that across the different members of the community there is a real appreciation of local history and heritage, and that most people have a passion for ways for how to engage with it, and it has only galvanised our beliefs in realising more of our Yourspace Heritage Timeline Research Project.

Such a wonderful positive day. Thank you everybody!
